Wednesday, August 16, 2006

Today is Thursday, August 17. Our lesson is from Trig section 1.2. We begin on page 240 with Domain and Period of the Sine and Cosine Functions. Make sure you understand the definition of a periodic function. Make sure you can use the period to evaluate the sine and cosine of a real number t. The lesson also makes us aware of the even and odd trigonometric functions and how to evaluate for given values.

The person who summarizes this lesson will go into great detail regarding these objectives. He/she will also post the homework assignment.

Welcome to the first ever MSHS Precal Seminar Blog!!!

Greetings and welcome to the first every MSHS Seminar Blog!!!

This is all very new to me, but I am so excited about this opportunity for students to help one another online. As we begin this new adventure, I am well aware that many of you are experienced "bloggers". You may already participate in social networking sites such as Live Journal, My Space, Facebook, etc. These sites are basically journaling tools. Our Seminar Blog will be VERY different -- we will use blogging as an educational tool to share and build understanding of the topics we discuss in class.

I have begun this PreCal Seminar blog to allow an assigned student, the "scribe", to post a review of the day's lesson. Students may then post additions, corrections, or questions regarding the lesson or any of the homework problems. Students who post additional information or answers to questions will receive an "early bird credit".

"GROUND RULES" This site is strictly "business" for our PreCal Seminar class. It is not a forum for personal issues. I expect all students to be professional when using this site. Any non professional uses will be disciplined according to our student handbook and code of conduct.

I have done some research this summer on similiar math blogs. This should be a great resource for all of you to get the "extra help" you need. I don't promise to be online with you every night, but occasionally, I will "check in" and offer my help. I will check the site each morning before school and note the questions and problems you are having with previous lessons. This will help me to know exactly what you need help with that day in clas.

I'm looking forward to a marvy semester!!!!
